Residents will be given the opportunity to look over the latest plans for the Beverley Southern Relief Road (BSRR) (Minster Way) at Beverley Leisure Centre on Friday, 11 November.
The exhibition will take place from 12noon-7pm, with the council’s project officers on hand to provide assistance or answer any queries.
The council has submitted a £27.254m Best and Final Bid to the Department for Transport (DfT) for the Beverley Integrated Transport Plan (BITP), of which the BSRR is a major element, in September.
As part of the best and final bid process, the council has sought to identify cost savings for the scheme and maximise value for money in order to increase the scheme’s chances of success and these changes have necessitated a new planning application.
BITP originally incorporated the BSRR and a Park and Ride but will now have some proposed revisions.
These include removal of the Park and Ride along with the associated terminal building and access roads, reduction of the dual carriageway section to a single carriageway between the Park and Ride roundabout and the roundabout at the eastern end of the scheme, removal of the Park and Ride roundabout and incorporation of a curved carriageway alignment, reduction of the dual carriageway section to a single carriageway between the roundabout at the western end (Victoria Road) and the Lincoln Way roundabout and reduction of the carriageway width from 9.3m to 8.3m.
Should the scheme be granted DfT funding, construction work is programmed to start on site in February 2013 and be completed in December 2014.
The DfT will make a decision on the projects it will provide funding for in December.
