On Saturday 10th Decmber at 3 pm once again Bandmaster Graham Janes and his Band started the annual Christmas Celebration Concert at St Mary’s Church in aid of SSAFA Forces Help East Yorkshire.
This year pupils from St Mary’s Primary School and St Nicholas Primary were joined by the Longcroft Gospil Choir. The concert has attracted more and more people each year and an estimated four hundred joined in with the Christmas Carols and enjoyed the event, with readings, song and music making it a memorable afternoon.
This year also saw in attendance The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of East Yorkshire, Chairman of ERYC, Mayor of Beverley, Mayor of Withernsea and The Chairman of Woodmansey Parish Council. After the event SSAFA volunteers served Tea, Coffee and Mince Pies to those that stayed after to continue in the Christmas spirit.
There were also on offer SSAFA wristbands which can be obtained though our office. Above all the event brought together many people who volunteered to give their time and support our cause, I hope we can all join together again next year.
Cllr David Elvidge, Branch Chairman SSAFA Forces Help East Yorkshire.
