Imagine the scene, wintry December morning, bright blue skies, North York Moors covered in a layer of white frosting, freezing temperatures, mince pies, hot chocolate, carol singers and a train belching out steam in anticipation of a journey crammed full of excited Rainbow Guides eager for a glimpse of Santa.
Saturday 10th December was the day when Rainbows from Beverley Division (1st Cherry Burton, 1st Leconfield & 1st Beverley Minster) congregated at Pickering station and ‘Took Over The Tracks’ for their pre-Christmas outing.
With a final blast from the conductors whistle, like a scene reminiscent of Harry Potter, the train left the station. Rainbows and Guiders alike were delighted when Santa duly made his appearance granting Christmas wishes to everyone with a hearty ho-ho-ho. A truly enjoyable day for all, both young and old, and a fantastic way to get the Christmas spirit flowing.
