Hull Kingston Rovers have the early-season bragging rights after hammering Hull FC in their ‘friendly’ pre-season derby at the KC Stadium today.
More than 13,000 fans turned up to watch Rovers romp to a 36-18 victory in blustery conditions.
Hull gave debuts to all eight close-season signings, but it was Rovers’ new boys who came out on top.
Shannon McDonnell helped himself to a brace while David Hodgson also scored.
Further Rovers’ tries came from Rhys Lovegrove (2), Kris Welham and Craig Hall. Michael Dobson added four goals.
Hull’s points came courtesy of the new men Andy Lynch, Tony Martin and youngster Chris Green. Danny Tickle and Joe Westerman converted the tries.
