Perfect Start For Beverley Wanderers Against Rangers

An excellent performance all round for newly-formed Beverley Town Wanderers U8’s, as they met Cottingham Rangers Panthers at home in a tough test.

The first game saw the Wanderers dictating possession. Outstanding defensive duo of Harry Armstrong and Mark Hudson were protecting their goal with solid defending.

The deadlock was broken when Henry Green combined with Danny Prescott down the right, and his low cross was met at the far post by the lively Thomas Smith.

The second half Cottingham came out fighting forcing a string of corners, but the Wanderer’s defence held strong. The Wanderers then came alive with strong running from Jacob Hodgson finding Danny Prescott who skipped through a challenge and found the net from the edge of the area to take the game 2-0.

The second game saw a much closer affair. Credit going to both teams for quality defending. Wanderer’s best chance was from a low deep cross from the impressive Hodgson down the right, which was almost met by Ethan Jacobsen, but the half finished goal less.

The second half saw the Wanderers kick into gear with slick passing from Thomas Smith and Mark Hudson, leading to a chance for Jacob Hodgson, who shot inches wide.

Pressure from the Wanderers was rewarded when a run from Henry Green was picked up by man of the match Jacob Hodgson, who ran through on goal, to finish with a neat strike.

Beverley Town Wanderers nearly doubled their lead late on, as a fine pass from Danny Prescott found Ethan Jacobsen down the left, whose strong run and shot on goal was well-saved and the game finished for a well-deserved 1-0 victory.
