Julie Donald Wins Prize In Sleaford Half-Marathon

With no local races last weekend many members of Beverley Athletic Club continued with training schedules for the London and Hull Marathons.

For those that wanted a race there was the Sleaford Half-Marathon which attracted a field of 337 runners, among them Beverley’s Julie Donald and Lucas Meagor.

The race started and finished at the sports pavilion at RAF College Cranwell and followed an undulating route on rural roads north of the college.

There was also a two mile section off-road which added a bit of variety to the course.

Runners were buffeted by the wind for the first five or six miles but on the whole conditions were good. Julie Donald ran to form finishing in 1.38:38 and winning third prize in the ladies’ competition. Lucas Meagor finished in a commendable 1:36:31 and in 75th place overall.

The race was won by Andrew Fisher in 1:14:56. The first lady was Lucy Holmes of Ripley AC in 1:27:37.
