Yorkshire Line Up Clash With Roses Rivals After Fine Win At Beaver Park

Yorkshire and their arch-rivals Lancashire will meet at Doncaster RFC next Sunday (March 25, 2012), kick-off 2.15pm, in the final of the North section of the National Under 20 RU Championship after the Roses rivals both claimed emphatic victories in today’s Semi-finals.

Yorkshire, beaten by eventual winners Gloucestershire in last year’s National Semi-final, claimed their place at Castle Park with a 46-8 win over Cheshire, who without kit played in the colours of Beverley at Beaver Park while Lancashire were matching them with a 48-8 victory over Northumberland at Fylde.

Yorkshire had to contend with a string of changes when they entertained Cheshire and it took them a while to develop any rhythm.

“We had half an hour or so without any pattern to our game, but we eventually settled into it to got the win,” said Team Manager Keith Dyas. “One real positive from the changes was the performance of Pocklington flanker Richard Skowronek, who came into the side as a late replacement and had an outstanding game.”

Yorkshire scored seven tries through Skowronek, centre Joe Martin (Hull), scrum-half James Munro (Leeds University), full-back Jack Moon (Morley), wingman Chris McTurk (Darlington Mowden Park), replacement Ned Brown (Ilkley) and wing Will Heylings (Harrogate), with fly-half Greg Lound (Hull) adding 11 points with the boot.

Final Score: Yorkshire 46 Cheshire 8 | Report From Yorkshire RFU, Maureen Juniper
