Beverley Guardian: Old Paper Makes Interesting Reading

Number 11 Manor Road has been boarded up for some time now and from what I understand has a compulsory purchase order issued against it.

This may explain why the contents of the home have been cleared into the front garden ready to be carted off.

In all the rubbish a newspaper of all things caught my eye. It is a Beverley Guardian dated the 6th August 1981.

Broadsheet in size it is a packed with stories from over 30 years ago, there is a competition to win 500 pints and two massive sections dedicated to farming.

Two things however are far more interesting, a lady called Prue Blake who I am sure is the dame Pru affiliated to the Christmas Lights Appeal has a column and the back is packed with pictures of street parties from the royal wedding.

The sports section features a team from Longcroft School team who from were East Riding Champions, these include Joanne Rogerson (shot put) Helen Clayton (Long Jump) and a few more.

Oh, and you could buy a house for around £22K off Dee Atkinson & Harrison!
