Over 100 Runners Take Part In Beverley Braves 5K

Over 120 people took park in the Beverley Braves 5K  fun run on Sunday.

This was the first time such an event had been organised it is hoped the 5K course around the Beverley Westwood will become an annual event for the club.

Started by the deputy Mayor of Beverley and the East Yorkshire Town Crier runners of all ages and abilities tackled a course around the edge of the historic pastures.

The winner of the race was Braves U14 player Joe Wardill who was presented with a medal by Hull FC U18 coach Andy Last.

Linda Rowbotham who is part of the Beverley Braves Committee who organised the event said;

“We will not know how much we have raised till we get all the sponsorship money back though we are hoping to have raised around £1000.”

“There are over 150 players in a out junior ranks and we are trying to raise enough money to purchase playing kit and also equipment.”

“On behalf of all everyone at the Beverley Braves I would like to thank Tesco who provided us with fruit and water and also Nestle who donated water for the runners.”
