Beverley Town Cricket Club played their first pre season friendly at the Norwood Recreation Ground versus a strong Driffield Town CC team. Beverley batted first and quickly lost 3 wickets to be 15-3.
New signing Cooke 31 and Ian Gillyon 39 batted well to re-build the innings. Tony Spence 20 and Olly Grantham 24 scored late quick runs as the wickets continued to fall as Beverley reached 160-9 in the alloted 40 overs, O Ezard 3-26 and Shaun Drury 4 – 17 the main wicket takers for Driffied.
Beverley needed early wickets, however Shaun Drury had other ideas, playing an excellent innings of 101 not out, hitting 5 sixes and 6 fours supported by B Cadmore 33 not out as Driffield reached their target for the loss of 2 wickets, 1 wicket each for Beverley`s talented junior bowlers Kezza Thompson and Jamie Roe.
