Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, is encouraging year 11 pupils to sign up for National Citizen Service this summer.
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a seven week programme held over the summer holiday for year 11 pupils, culminating in a graduation ceremony where participants receive a nationally recognised certificate.
The NCS helps young people to develop the skills and attitudes necessary to get more engaged with their communities and become active and responsible citizens.
Thirty places are available in the East Riding of Yorkshire for this summer’s programme. Young people can get more information on how to apply from their schools or online at www.nationalcitizenservice.direct.gov.uk.
Graham said:
“Following the success of last year’s pilot scheme I am keen to encourage our 16 year olds to participate in National Citizen Service this summer.
“The aims of the scheme are commendable. Never has it been more important to inspire young people to engage with their communities, mix socially and develop all their skills.”
