Organisers of a popular racing event say it has really won the region’s hearts this year.
Tickets for Beverley Racecourse’s award-winning Lucky in Love night, which is due to take place for the third year running on Wednesday, May 30th, are being snapped up faster than ever.
The forward-thinking racecourse and events centre has been inundated with enquiries about the fixture, which sees every racegoer being issued with either a padlock or key to wear around their neck before spending the rest of the night hunting for their match.
However, the team at the racecourse wants to make sure racegoers who aren’t necessarily looking for love don’t feel excluded by the theme, as the padlocks and keys are completely mixed up between both the men and women ensuring they simply act as an icebreaker to get anyone and everyone talking.
Sally Iggulden, chief executive of Beverley Racecourse, said: “Lucky in Love’s first two years were really successful and we just hope that the third year really is third time lucky for us.
“Ticket sales so far are looking really promising so we are urging anyone who hasn’t bought tickets yet to make sure they book soon to ensure they aren’t left disappointed.
There are some fantastic prizes on offer this year, with the top prize being flights to Jersey for two people courtesy of Humberside Airport and Airways Holidays – every racegoer who finds their matching padlock and key will be entered into the prize draw.”
Sally added: “We’ve had an incredible amount of support from local businesses and racegoers, without both of whom events like this just wouldn’t continue. Thanks to their support and feedback we’re hoping that this year’s Lucky in Love will be even bigger and better.”
In addition, this year’s event includes a best dressed competition with a “Hint of Pink” theme. Racegoers are being encouraged to add a hint of pink to their outfits in recognition of the event’s official charity, Breast Cancer Care. The winner of the competition, which is being judged by Beverley Hat Company, will win a hat from the exclusive milliner as well as two Premier Enclosure tickets for The Journal Ladies Day.
