Braves Narrowly Beaten By All Blacks

Reece Wallan starred for the Braves under nines on Wednesday night at Longcroft School despite the boys just coming up short against the All Blacks.

However the 10 – 8 defeat was definitely through no lack of effort. Reece was joined by Alex and Tom Nuttall in taking the game to the opposition with the twins both deservedly getting on the score sheet for their efforts (Tom three tries ) and ( Alex one try).

William Cohen and Isaac Merryweather both got a brace of tries and caused damage every time they touched the ball, with William also demonstrating good ball skills linking up with Shamus Blades on the edges.

Ellis Gaden is gradually getting a reputation as an ‘enforcer’ after some punishing hits in defence, twice dumping the ball carrier into touch and earning his team vital possession.

Top tackler on the night went to Mathew Shirley who is clearly growing in confidence week on week after some decent performances in the blue and gold. Coach Craig Collins said ‘A good example has twice the value of good advice’.
