Hall Construction, sponsor of the Beverley 10k, has just announced a 10-strong team for this year’s race. Leading the team will be Chairman and Managing Director Martin Hall, a V50 ultra athlete who has completed several ultra events including the Atacama Crossing and the Gobi Desert March.
He also has an impressive record in the Beverley 10k, finishing in 44:07 in 2011 and 45:59 in 2010. This year he is aiming for between 42 and 45 minutes.
The Hall Construction team is a mixed group of employees and friends of Mr Hall and they would all like to beat him to the finish. His most serious rival is Graeme Pittaway who finished in 46:13 the last time he ran in Beverley in 2010.
Other contenders are Malcolm Barber and Mike East who have run the race before and who are both aiming for sub 50 minutes.
They may have a chance if Mr Hall is tempted to take a slight detour from the race route to inspect the Yorkstone paving that his company laid in North Bar Within recently.
Also in the team are three members of the Borthwick family, Rachel and Alistair and their son Ben who will be trying to beat his parents as well as Martin Hall; Michael Oughtred who is currently training for an Ironman event in Berlin in June; Paul Staniford who is aiming for a strong sub 50 minute performance; and Tina Cerutti who last ran with Mr Hall in the London Marathon 10 years ago.The race takes place at 11.15 on Sunday 13 May and although entries have closed spectators are welcome.
There is always a terrific atmosphere in Beverley on race day with live music around the town centre to entertain the crowds and encourage the runners along the last few hundred metres to the finishing line in Wednesday Market.Pictured modelling this year’s Beverley 10k t-shirt are from left to right: Graeme Pittaway, Malcolm Barber, Martin Hall and Mike East.
