Half Price Course Helps With Progress To Higher Education

People looking to make the step up to higher education are being offered a half price course at East Riding College to help them learn essential higher level study skills.

The six-week “Bite Size” course will take place at the College’s campus in Gallows Lane, Beverley, and will begin on Wednesday, May 16 from 6pm to 9pm.

It will cover a range of study skills which are essential to degree and other higher level study, including formal English, avoiding plagiarism, sourcing information, reading and note taking, planning and writing essays, and presentation skills.

The course is also relevant to students expecting to go into employment as it will provide them with skills that employers value, such as time management and presentation skills.

Participants will get the opportunity to visit the University of Hull and those who successfully complete the course will be awarded 10 credits from the university which will count towards a future higher level qualification.

Alison Gray, assistant director at the College, said: “This course is for anyone planning to go on to study at level four and go onto a foundation degree or to university.

“The course is suitable for level three learners or adults who may be returning to education and who intend to progress into higher education and we have had very good feedback from people who have been on it.”

For people who are not East Riding College students, the course costs £49. To secure a place or to find out more call Katy Murdock on (01482) 306696 or email katy.murdock@eastridingcollege.ac.uk
