This year, six cadets and one adult instructor from the Beverley Grammar School Army Cadet Force detachment embark on an expedition with around 20 other cadets from all the different cadet forces for 4 weeks in the beautiful heartland of Nepal.
Connor McBain, Jack Spencer, Nathan Bray, Miles Lenton, Adam Johnson and instructor Emma Asquith will be walking through incredible environments, the lowlands of Nepal and climbing steadily through the roots of the world’s greatest mountain range, breaking out below Mount Everest.
The cadets have worked for near a year to secure funds and equipment for their expedition, now they have teamed up with the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and they are running a car wash on the 9th of June from 10:00 am till 4:00 in the afternoon, at Beverley Fire Station as they look to raise the rest of the money needed.
Anyone is welcome to bring their cars, bikes etc to be washed at the fire station and help the cadets towards their expedition 50% of all donations collected will go towards the fire stations charity fund.
The expedition itself promotes team work, physical skills and leadership, giving these young people, and the adult instructors involved a once in a lifetime experience, developing key skills useful both in normal life and within the forces they are a part of.
A member of the tri cadet service team, Corporal Jack Spencer told HU17. Net
‘this expedition has provided all of the Beverley Grammar School members involved the chance to challenge ourselves in a unique environment and develop all of the skills the army cadet force has given us’.
