WALKINGTON : Fatal Road Traffic Collision

Humberside Police are appealing for witnesses in connection with a fatal road traffic collision which happened on Coppleflat Lane at the junction with Newbald Road in Walkington.

At around 1613hrs on Thursday 31 May a black coloured Toyota Aygo, which was travelling along Newbald Road towards the junction with Coppleflat Lane, was in collision with a yellow coloured Citroen van, which was travelling from Beverley towards Walkington.

The driver of the Toyota, a 17 year girl from Greaseborough suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Two 17 year old girls, also from Greaseborough were travelling in the Toyota. One of the girls was treated for minor injuries and the other was treated for serious, non life threatening injuries. Both received treatment at Hull Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the Citreon van, a 32 year old man from Walkington was treated for minor injuries and shock.

Police closed the road following the collision and reopened it shortly after 2200hrs.

Police are asking for witnesses to the collision to call Humberside Police tel 101 quoting log 430 of Thursday 31 May 2012.
