Smith Justifies Recall But Beverley Lose To Clifton

Tim Smith fully justified his recall to the Beverley Town Cricket Club’s first team this weekend as he top scored with 75 in the home sides’ defeat at the Norwood Recreation Ground to Clifton Alliance CC.

Losing the toss, Beverley were put into the bat, Tim Smith shone while Peter Groves, Jonathan Fisher and Olly Grantham scored just eight runs between them.

Andrew Hamson gave Clifton something to think about as he batted his was to a credible 51 while skipper Alan Acklam ended with an unbeaten 33.

The pick of the Beverley bowlers was Matt Smith, who got figures of 3/41, Brad Dobson was next best with 2/39 but Bevelrey were unable to take the wickets needed to win the game as the visitors finished on 235/7 winning the game by three wickets.
