KC has announced it is increasing the monthly download allowances for all its broadband services.
From Wednesday 1 August, download allowances for customers using Karoo Mid, Lite and Pro services and KC Home bundles will increase by at least 10 per cent – and in some cases download allowances will double.
The changes mean KC’s broadband customers can watch, listen to and download more online content each month completely free of charge.
They reflect the continuing rapid growth in internet usage that has seen a significant increase in broadband traffic across KC’s network. This growth is being driven by the use of streaming services such as BBC iPlayer and Netflix to watch catch-up TV and on-demand movies; and by the increasing number of people now connecting to the internet not just with PCs and laptops but also through iPads, smartphones and games consoles.
KC’s Nick Thompson said: “We’ve made these changes to give our customers even greater freedom to download the content they love and the services they want to use, without having to pay a penny more.
“The changes mean the most bandwidth-hungry households, which are using our premium broadband services, will be able to download twice as much as before at no extra cost.
“We’re delighted to be giving customers even better value for money.”
From 1 August the monthly download allowances for KC broadband services will change as shown below:

- Karoo Mid 1 20GB 22GB

Customers who use one of KC’s home phone and broadband bundles can increase their monthly usage allowance even further at little extra cost by signing up to KC Connect, a new service which lets customers make the most of their internet-connected or ‘smart’ TVs.
As well as doubling customers’ monthly download allowance, for just £6 per month the KC Connect service includes a visit from a KC engineer, who connects the customer’s smart TV directly to the internet using Ethernet cables, for a high-quality TV streaming experience that a wireless connection can’t provide.
KC Connect can also be used with any other internet-enabled home entertainment equipment, such as Blu Ray players, HD Freeview boxes and gaming consoles.
