Beverley Ladies won the toss and batted for the first time on the back pitch at the Norwood Recreation Ground and only the second home match of the season.
Skipper Sarah McDowall (80no) opened with Beth Smith (35) putting on a fine opening stand of 98 when the latter was caught and bowled off the slow bowling of Bradbrook.
Amy Halloran(8) and Charlie Cooper went soon after leaving town on 111 for 3 and then although Helen Craig (12) stayed there a long time she could not score quickly and was run out with 144 off 34 overs. With only 6 overs left Hannah Matthews (12) joined her captain and pushed the score to 172 in quick time.
Abbie Warner (5no) supported her skipper pushing the final total to 188 for 5 at the close.
Hannah Matthews and Amy Halloran opened the attack for Beverley and although they both found the edge of the Poole openers they could not stop them reaching 24 off the first 5 overs.
Amy did get Katie Wynn (15) clean bowled in the next over but Jenny Riley (24) and Rachelle Petty (35) raced the score to 75 before the latter was brilliantly stumped by Sarah McDowell off the bowling of Abbie Warner.
Wickets gradually fell but despite a good bowling performance Poole reached the total loosing 6 wickets in the process with only two overs to go.
A great match showing how Beverley youngsters have progressed and emphasising the need to continually coach and bring though the girls with potential. Training continues on Tuesday Evenings from 6 to 8pm at The Norwood Recreation Ground.
