How many people can go home and say today, I helped save someone’s life? That’s what fundraisers do every day when supporting the work of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The BHF is setting up a fundraising group in Beverley and is inviting people who are passionate about raising funds to support the fight against heart disease to a BHF Social to find out more. The event is on Tuesday 14 August upstairs at The Rose and Crown Pub, from 7pm to 9pm.
The social will be a chance for people to find out about all BHF volunteering opportunities in Beverley, including the recent launch of Beverley as a Heart Town and volunteering at the BHF shop on Toll Gavel.
Meeting organiser Simon Barrett, of Beverley, said:
“I’ve been volunteering with the British Heart Foundation since 2007 in York and having moved to Beverley last year I’d really like to tap into some of the skills and passion I’m sure we have in Beverley for this excellent cause. We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic, who want to learn new skills or build on existing ones to organise regular events.”
Sharon Oakley, BHF Fundraising Volunteer Manager in Beverley, added:
“Sadly, heart disease is still the UK’s biggest killer. It touches us all. Lives are cut short and for those living with the disease, life can be frightening and hard. Vital funds raised by local fundraising groups make all the difference and we simply could not manage without their support. It would be wonderful to welcome and support a brand new BHF Beverley Fundraising Group.”
