Hodgsons FC boss Rob Lever focused on the positives after his side were beaten in friendly by Chalk Lane 5 – 3.
The Tanners faced a tough test against a side who last season were challenging for the Humber Premier League title.
The result was a fair reflection on the game, although quite even at times it was the visitors, Chalk Lane, who created the chances.
With the Tanners fielding, a host of new signings it was the old gaurd of Steve Grantham and Daniel Atkinson, who showed they can still change games.
Grantham was lucky with one goal though his second was a stunning free kick that gaffer Rod Lever described as one of the best he has ever seen.
Rod told HU17.net;
“Today was always going to be a big ask; Chalk are a quality side, and we were fielding a few new signings, two new centre backs.”
“Over all I am pleased with the efforts of the side, I was really impressed with Steve Grantham; hewill certainly figure in my plans for forth coming season.”
“Atkinson took his goal; he a bit off the pace, but I am sure he will be terrifying defenses with his pace when the season starts.”
The Tanners are hoping to squeeze in one more fixture before they kick off the Humber Premier League campaign with a tough fixture at home to Reckitts AFC on 18th August.
