Have you been inspired to get fit after the Olympic Games?
The easiest way to start is to get into walking. It’s a great way to get fitter and enjoy the open air. Town walking is a good way to get into regular walking and building up your stamina.
Whether you like the social side of a group walk or choose to walk in a smaller group, or alone, the positive benefits of walking are well established.
This September sees the second Walking and Outdoors Festival throughout the East Riding. The first weekend is Walkabout Beverley Weekend. You can join in an organised walk or just get a map and make up your own!
The town is celebrating gaining the Walkers are Welcome national accreditation. The drive to get the status for Beverley has been coordinated by Carli Black and has been sponsored by the Beverley Renaissance Partnership with the backing of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Beverley Town Council, and the Beverley Chamber of Trade.
A small enthusiastic steering group set about achieving the criteria set and have been busy organizing a walking weekend in celebration.
Beverley is already a popular choice for walkers and ideal for those who want to walk short or long distances. The town is great base for visitors and plenty of walking options for residents.
