Adams Faces Selection Headache Ahead Of New Season

The blue and golds will start their Hull & District League campaign this Saturday away to Three Tuns (formerly GW Horners).

Guy Adams was pleased with the squad’s only run out against quality opposition Wortley Dragons three weeks ago.

However, three players who were absent from that game: Adam Norton, Nathan Wilkinson and Ian Lane will return this Saturday, which will certainly give Adams a real selection headache.

The Hull & District League are sticking with the usual two divisional format this season despite rumours to the contary. West Hull ‘A’ and Hull Dockers ‘A’ will feature in the same league as Beverley following their return to Winter rugby following a brief flirtation with Summer.

There has even been talk of other teams such as Scarborough Pirates joining the league at a later date.

There was a positive meeting with the junior section (Braves) at the Hodgsons last Monday evening.

It is planned that some of the youth matches may act as ‘curtain raisers’ to the open age matches at the Beverley Leisure Centre this season.

Match day mascots and joint fundraising initiatives were also among the ideas that were kicked around.

This Saturday’s match kicks off at 2 pm at Costello Playing Fields.
