Throughout August members of the Beverley Building Society have been voting for which local charity they think should receive a £250 donation from the Society. Votes have been counted and last month’s winner was the Wilf Ward Family Trust.
Beverley Building Society’s Charity of the Month project has been giving members the opportunity to vote for their favorite local charity since January, so far donating a total of £2000.
The last winner was the Wilf Ward Family Trust who are a charity that give relief to carers by providing respite units and day care facilities for people with learning difficulties.
The Trust helps people like Dale to live more independently. Dale is currently staying in a supported-living house but has ambitions of moving into his own flat thanks to the help from Wilf Ward.
Dale, a user of Wilf Ward services said:
“Wilf Ward has made me push myself to live more independently, they have taught me daily living skills like how to cook and pay bills. I now have a part-time job and soon I would like to move into my own flat.”
The three charities involved in this month’s competition are: The Dove House – Love you 2
Appeal, SSAFA Forces Help and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
If anyone would like to nominate a local registered charity for inclusion in the Beverley’s monthly voting process, they can email michael.plaster@beverleybs.co.uk, telephone 01482 881510 or call in and speak to one of the team.
