Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart teamed up with Jobcentre plus to deliver a jobs fair in Beverley.
On Friday 7th September Graham welcomed over 500 job seekers and 21 exhibitors to Beverley Memorial Hall. The event exhibitors included a mix of employment providers and employment support organisations.
Graham said, “Events of this nature are vitally important to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers to inspire the work force of tomorrow by demonstrating the opportunities that are out there and the support available to help them realise their aspiration.”
“The vitality of our small to medium sized enterprises is the key to getting Britain’s economy back on track and a strong local workforce is a fundamental component in stimulating that vitality.”
“I am delighted that so many people attended the day and am grateful for the support given by Jobcentre Plus to help me bring this event to Beverley. We have received excellent feedback with one job seeker commenting that ‘It was nice to be able to consider other opportunities that I may not have thought of previously. Thank you – this gives me hope’. ”

Over 500 people attended to meet with employers and other organisations who were there to help them get back to work. Councillor Dominic Peacock, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Veterans’ Champion and Councillor for Beverley’s Minster and Woodmansey Ward said, “The positive attendance at this event demonstrates the importance the Council attaches to ensuring East Ridings Job seekers are kept in the employment market and are able to network with employers seeking new staff and agencies that can provide help and support. The event offered support in keeping their skills base up to date and relevant and also offered material help such as the Councils Wheels to Work project.”
