The start of the league season was eagerly awaited by both teams, but both teams found conditions blustery. Beverley played with composure and settled soon into a rhythm creating some attacking chances.
Two early goals were the reward, the first following a fantastic long throw into the box by Rams Charlie Rowbotham that found Ben Hearfield free to chip into the top corner.
Beverley exploited good possession and when Tom Bruce placed a great corner Nick Moody was on hand to head home for two nil. Elloughton then settled and played some quality football in the centre midfield and were unlucky not to score.
After a rousing half time team talk, Beverley regained their momentum and gained an early goal when Ollie Baldwin hooked a great goal from a loose ball from a corner. Baldwin was on the score sheet again a short time later with a neat finish. Elloughton did not give up and came back into the game with good midfield work.
Beverley defended well with Dennis Bailey and Nick Moody in the heart of the back four. With 10 minutes to play Beverley made it five when a well-taken corner from Ben Hearfield was powerfully headed home by Dennis Bailey. Beverley then added a sixth when right back Will Harrison made a great run only to see his strike cannon back off the post for Ben Hearfield to smash the ball into the net.
Elloughton gained a goal, and this was just well deserved for a spirited performance when Charlie Dixon scored. Beverley were close to a seventh when a super Dan Baillie shot was tipped onto the woodwork.
Final Score: Elloughton 1 Beverley Whitestar Rams 6
