Northern Rocks Pocklington With Wonder Strike

Beverley Town FC came from behind to beat Pocklington Town at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Michael O’Connell and Rob Northern got the all-important goals to earn the home side another three vital points in the race to be champions of Humber Premier League.

Beverley could easily have wrapped this game up in the first half though were unable to take any of their chances. O’Connell had an effort ruled out for handball a decision match officials got spot on.

Pocklington looked much better in the second half and took an early lead, the disappointment on faces of Beverley’s players soon changed to one of determination. Refusing to lay down Beverley went on the attack, they were soon rewarded for their efforts after O’Connell latched onto a flick on and on the stretch got Town back on level terms.

Better was to come for the home side when a header from skipper Jonny Ricardo found Rob Northern who scored with a scissor kick sparking off wild celebrations from the Town players.

Victory keeps Town in the top three of the Humber Premier League, level on points with North Cave and Sculcoates Amateurs and unbeaten in eight league matches. Next weekend, Beverley Town FC will travel to the Victoria Pleasure Ground to play Goole United in the Whiteheads Fish & Chips League Cup.

  1. Missed the ball hitting the back of the net, everything. Shocking ;0) Looks a great volley, joking apart

  2. I want to put the camera in the goal though worried the ref will tell me to leave the game 😉 so right at the end I give it a go, the last pictures are off a free kick that hit the bar. Had I put a fish eye on it would have got the cross bar too, live and learn!
