The Barn House in Walkington is hosting a night of live music this month, when local musicians will be showcasing their talent at the venue’s first Open Mic Night on the 12th October.
The event has been organised by Beverley musician Laura Douse, vocalist of the band Sea of Wires. Laura Says:
“Being in a band myself, I understand how important it is for musicians to get together and express themselves through music. It’s a great way of finding out what’s going on in the local scene, making new friends and it’s always an entertaining night.”
“We’ve got some fantastic acts lined up for the Open Mic night although it is open to anyone who turns up with their instruments. The Barn House is a wonderful venue to perform in, I’ve performed a solo set there before and the acoustics are amazing.”
“My band and I were lucky enough to play at Humber Street Sesh and there was some amazing talent in Hull that weekend. The Open Mic Night in Walkington gives people in Beverley and the surrounding area the opportunity to show off their talents.”
“Personally I much prefer to hear real musicians performing, than listening to chart music. I think that the music on the radio generally sounds the same. Local musicians have the freedom to be creative without boundaries.”
“It’s a really exciting thing to be part of and I can’t wait to hear what people have to offer.”
Niki Clappison, owner of the Barn House says:
“The Open Mic night is at The Barn House Walkington on Friday 12th October from 7pm until late. We welcome anyone to come along and sing up to three songs. Performers can choose from the live PA room or the acoustic lounge.
“We have a great setting at the Barn House and we hope to be able to find some new talent to play at our tapas nights throughout November and December.”
