Carter Takes Home £250 For Canine Partners

Last month the Canine Partners were winners of the Beverley Building Society Charity of the Month competition and on behalf of the charity, Carter came in to collect the award.

Carter is a 20 month old Golden Doodle, which as the name suggests is a mixture of a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. He came into the branch accompanied by his Puppy Parent – Mike to collect a £250 donation from the Beverley Building Society.

Mike Cormack, a volunteer for Canine Partners and Carter’s Puppy Parent said:

“Cater is adorable, he always has a smile on his face and he really does have the wow factor so it takes me a long time to get around the shops with him! Carter has been trained to perform lots of core behaviours which will eventually be fine-tuned to enable his to work as an assistance dog for someone with disabilities.”

In January Carter will go on an advanced training course where he will learn how to assist with tasks such as opening doors and unloading the washing machine. Once he has completed his training he will be matched with a suitable partner to help with practical everyday tasks and provide a special companion.

The Charity of the Month Competition is now in its 11th month, so far raising a total of £2500 for local causes such as the Canine Partners.

If anyone would like to nominate a local registered charity to be included in the Beverley’s Charity of the Month Competition, they can email michael.plaster@beverleybs.co.uk, telephone 01482 881510 or call in and speak to one of the team.
