Today marks the launch of a monumental campaign, which aims to bring a Merry Christmas to thousands of children in East Yorkshire & Northern Lincolnshire, who would otherwise wake upto nothing on Christmas Morning.
Viking FM and Magic 1161’s Cash For Kids are today launching their annual Christmas toy appeal under the banner of ‘Mission Christmas’ and this year, they are predicting that it will be bigger than ever.
Charity manager, Claire Taylor, said: “Last year, Mission Christmas raised over £250,000 worth of toys for over 7,000 underprivileged children right here in this region.
“With the support of our brilliant sponsors and the wider business community, we are hoping to take this year’s campaign to the next level. Ideally, we are aiming to help over 8,000 children with gifts and toys worth over £275,000.”
Main sponsors of the campaign include Foresters, the international financial services organisation, and Princes Quay Shopping Centre, where a launch event will be taking place this Saturday, hosted by presenters from Viking FM and Magic 1161, including Viking FM Breakfast presenters, Jim & Rosie.
Speaking of her support for the campaign, Rosie said: “This year’s campaign is going to be huge and we are so proud to be supporting such a great cause.
“Every penny raised and every toy donated goes towards making sure that a deprived child from this very region has a happy Christmas.”
Saturday’s events at Princes Quay start at 10am and they will be joined by a parade of Mission Christmas representatives who will be setting off from Hull New Theatre at 10:30am.
Local businesses can get involved and support the charity in a number of ways including becoming an official supporter or fundraiser.
