Excellent Progress At Local Primary School Says MP

On Friday 9th November, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart visited St Nicholas Primary School in Beverley to observe the recent improvements to the standard of education at the school.

Graham said, “Since being placed into special measures two years ago the staff and governors at the school have worked extremely hard to bring about an improvement in standards.

“Ofsted inspectors have been working closely with the school and I am pleased that St Nicholas Primary School came out of special measures in July this year and that they continue to make excellent progress. The school is keen to move as soon as possible to a single site, from its present split site, and I’m doing everything I can to accelerate their plans.”

Councillor David Elvidge said,

“As a Governor at St Nicholas School Graham’s visit was a great opportunity to discuss how the school was performing.”

“As Chair of the Education Committee Graham has an insight into educational issues which he readily shared and debated with us. We discussed the issues of the school operating on a split site and also Michael Gove’s visit to Beverley last week to look into the East Ridings needs when it comes to maintaining and, we hope, improving our schools.”
