Beverley Rugby League Football Club recently held a sportsmans charity dinner at the Beverley Racecourse.
The event proved to be a huge success with all 190 tickets being sold. The audience was entertained by Ex Great Britain, Sheffield Eagles and Leeds Rhinos player Keith Senior who was the guest speaker.
The entertainment continued with Liverpool comedian Gary Skyner with the event compared by Oldham based Mike Radshaw. Auctions of various items and memorabilia then followed.
The event raised £917 for the Dove House Hospice and £917 for the Rugby League injured player’s benevolence fund.
Pete Stephenson a well-known local amateur rugby league player in the Hull area who himself suffered a serious career-ending injury commented
“I would like to thank Beverley for their efforts on the evening. It is contributions like this, which keeps the benevolence fund going and helps out what are so often the forgotten men of the game”
Chairman Graham Ostler added
“We intend to repeat the event next year and turn it into an regular part of the social calendar. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the event that helped make it such a success”
