Beverley RUFC ‘s season restarts on Saturday when they host Pocklington at Beaver Park (kick-off 2.15 p.m.).
This will be the third meeting this season of the two clubs and, although the Beavers made hard work of the league encounter at Pocklington back in September, winning by only 14 points to 11, they won the Yorkshire cup-tie, again at Pocklington, very comfortably by 31 points to 17.
This might suggest that they will have nothing to fear on Saturday but Head Coach Anthony Posa will have none of it.
He said last night,
“This is a local derby match and Pocklington are an aggressive outfit up front and we will be taking nothing for granted. We have a few players missing through one reason or another and, although we have a decent squad and good cover, key players missing is not ideal.”
“We had built up a good run before the Christmas break and we need to hit the ground running on Saturday if we are to re-establish our form.”
“Maintaining continuity with no game for three weeks and introducing new players as well is difficult but it is what we aim to do.”
“We face a difficult January with Saturday’s game followed by a visit to Malton next week and then home games against Middlesbrough and then Morley. I will be very satisfied if we can come through that lot in good shape!”
Beverley RUFC will select from the following squad.
L.Birch, G.Jelencic, S.Atiola, J.Tupai, T.Tanumi, P.Duboulay, R. Smith, D.Riches, M.Kirkwood, L.Sambol, A.Ogilvie, M.Hatfield, G.Gibson, M.Adams, S.Nel, I.Spence, J.Pickets, D.Worrall, J.Holland, T.Riby- French
