Photographic Club Visit Donna Nook

Donna Nook

The DST Photographic Club was established in July 2012, it was formed to enhance the enjoyment of photography, foster good fellowship amongst enthusiasts, and provide photographic education for all skill levels.

It has proved extremely popular and now has approximately 20 members; it is open to all staff at DST including visiting students.

Meetings are held on the 1st Monday in each month with a lunch time session and an evening session.

Over the past months the club has covered various subjects from basic camera operation to studio lighting.

The club recently visited Donna Nook in Lincolnshire for a photographic trip.

Donna Nook National Nature Reserve is probably the best place within the U.K. for photographing grey seals. Each year, as autumn rolls into winter, hundreds of grey seals begin hauling themselves out onto Donna Nooks’ sandbanks to give birth to their pups.

Here the most important activities of the grey seal calendar are played out, giving photographers unprecedented opportunities to capture dramatic pictures of this spectacular period.

Following the success of this day more field trips are being planned for 2013.
