Beverley Town FC bowed out of the East Riding Senior County Cup this afternoon as they were beaten 2 – 0 by current holders Bridlington Town.
A goal in each half by Seasiders Scott Phillips was enough for the visitors to book their place in the semi final draw on Wednesday and move one step closer to a second consecutive KC Stadium final.
Beverley Town Football Club manager David Ricardo said after the game;
“I am really proud of the lads though frustrated at the same time.”
Ricardo has every right to be frustrated, coming out in the second half they were still in with a shout. The introduction of Rob Northen gave Town an added bite up front, but the striker was unable to capitalise on the chances created.
With time ticking running down Town gave away a penalty which was converted ending any hope of shock result at the Norwood recreation Ground.
This was Beverley Town’s first defeat of the season but by no means did they look out classed by the visitors doing themselves and the Humber Premier League proud.
Ricardo has a week to pick his side up and prepare them for the another home game, this time in the league when they host Chalk Lane.
