Spring Into Fitness At Bishop Burton College

April – a time to shake off the winter blues and focus on health and wellbeing. What better way to embrace the arrival of spring than by getting fit whilst meeting and making new friends?

On Saturday 6 April the Bishop Burton Centre For Sport & Fitness is hosting an Open Day to showcase its state-of-the-art facilities on offer for local residents.

James Earl, Director of Sport at Bishop Burton College said, “Most of our neighbours don’t realise that this outstanding facility is on their doorstep and that it’s not just for the College students. The idea behind the Open Day is to give people a taste of the classes and equipment, as well as showcase the expertise of our staff.”

“The Centre here at Bishop Burton has a relaxed atmosphere and it’s a friendly environment for people who want to improve their health and wellbeing. Last year, Beverley became a Heart Town, as part of the British Heart Foundation’s mission to improve the nation’s heart health.

“I feel that the Centre can play an important part in improving the health and quality of life of the local community. That’s another reason we keep the Centre as accessible as possible, with no contracts or joining fees.”

As well as free gym inductions being carried out throughout the day, visitors are encouraged to join classes such as zumba, x-biking and boxercise. The Centre’s professional sports staff will also be giving tours and short talks on sport nutrition and motivation.

Monthly membership starts at just £27 and anyone taking out a three month membership at the Open Day will get an additional fourth month free.

Running 10am – 3pm, a full Open Day timetable is available at www.bishopburton.ac.uk. All activities on the day are free and unlimited parking is available.
