Yellows Silence The Belles With Crushing Victory

Mill Lane United Yellows scored eleven goals as they might light work of the Brayton Belles in the East Riding Girls Football League.

In rainy conditions on a muddy pitch both sides could be forgiven for wanting to go back to bed on an awful Saturday morning.

Straight from the start both sides made their intentions clear with some nice passing football as chances were created at both ends. With 3 regulars missing the Yellows were slow to start as several girls adjusted to some new positions and Brayton were tackling anything that moved trying to upset the visitors rhythm.Taking control the Yellows took the lead when a fine ball from Emma Smith found Charlotte Holliday in space in the area who in turn unselfishly squared the ball to Tonya Storr for a simple tap in to open the scoring for the runaway league leaders.

With Smith, McConville and Nagee pulling the strings in midfield 3 more goals followed for Charlotte Holliday,Emma Smith and another for Storr to make the half time score 4 nil to Mill Lane United .

With the game under control the Yellows experimented with several girls trying new positions. This worked to great effect with 7 further goals scored by Mill Lane 3 for Holliday(giving her 4 in the game)2 more for Emma Smith to complete her hat rick and 2 for midfielder Morgan Nagee despite playing the second half with a very painful hand injury.

Credit to Brayton who contributed to an excellent game in the conditions scoring 2 consolation goals from Kimberley Adamson one been the goal of the game from 25yards.The final whistle blew giving the Yellows their 14th straight league victory as they try to complete a 100% league campaign.

The performance was built on unselfish team work with the superb ball distribution of man of the matches Emma Smith a feature who has now scored an amazing 261 league and cup goals as she approaches the end of her fifth season with the team a truly remarkable achievement and Courtney McConville in a midfield performance full of energy.

But this is certainly no one girl team as every girl worked their socks off many in experimental positions resulting in some outstanding goals.Special mention to Brayton Belles who battled to the end in awful conditions trying to play football in a committed performance they can be proud of.

Final Score: Brayton Belles 2 Mill Lane United Yellows 11
