Charity Thank Beverley Building Society’s Customers For Their Vote

A charity has thanked customers of the Beverley Building Society whose votes helped them get named as the charity of the month.

Patricia Osborne, CEO of the Brittle Bone Society said;

“We are delighted to have been chosen by Beverley Building Society’s customers as their Charity of the Month and would like to thank everyone who voted for us.”

We must also thank one of our keenest fundraisers, Beverley man Mr Paul Deadman who nominated the Brittle Bone Society, for all his work promoting and supporting the Brittle Bone Society and helping to raise awareness of Osteogenesis Imperfects(OI).

Patricia continued;

“The Brittle Bone Society is the only UK charity working with people who live with OI and we have many members across Yorkshire.”

“We help provide much needed specialised wheelchairs (costing £3k-£16K) not available from the NHS, helping members with issues of mobility, assisting them to greater independence.”

“We address isolation by planning and running events for our UK wide members and are currently rolling out a new volunteer support programme so we can reach more people across the country. We provide support, information and advocacy- when a parent learns their new baby has the condition it is vital they connect with our Support Worker to receive immediate help and support, factual information and signposting.”

“There has been progress across all areas over the last year, from fundraising, to profile-raising – achieving a stronger voice at Parliamentary level across the UK. This is steady and much welcomed progress for the Society and shows we are moving in the right direction and achieving impact where it is required. I hope this provides individuals with O.I hope and the prospect of better opportunity for the future.”
