Promoting The Benefits Of Volunteering

Students at East Riding College have been learning about the benefits of volunteering.

Volunteer fairs have been held at the Beverley and Bridlington campuses, with a range of organisations attending to highlight opportunities to learners.

This included the Citizens Advice Bureau, Cop Shop, British Heart Foundation, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Enrichment officer Tracy Underwood, who organised the fairs, said: “As a college we recognise and promote the benefits of getting involved with volunteering, which helps you become a well-rounded individual, looks great on your CV and can help with your application to university.

“We have a range of guest speakers from local volunteer agencies who regularly visit and meet with students to explain the values and skills gained by helping out.

“Alongside of this, we also organise annual volunteer fairs where students are invited to come along and meet with a range of local and national groups.”
