BGS Young Engineers Reach National Finals

As a specialist Engineering school, Beverley Grammar School has built-up an enviable reputation of Engineering excellence with a 100% (A-C) pass rate in its Engineering courses over the past four years.

Although we are in the midst of a recession, our Engineering students have an excellent reputation in the wider community resulting in all engineering students securing high quality employment or places on higher engineering courses. The school is particularly proud of this fact.

All students have the opportunity to join the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) club to enhance their learning and develop their skills through regional and national competitions.

Two talented young Engineers from Beverley Grammar’s STEM club have reached the national finals of the TeenTech Awards held at the Royal Society in London.

Year 8 students Macsen Sherer and Tom Brown designed and developed an electronic goal scoring verification system – their innovative and well thought out design was so good it won them a place in the National finals.

“It’s been great to watch them develop their ideas and exciting to work with such young talented Engineers. We are really proud of their achievement and we will all have our fingers firmly crossed” commented Tim Gosling STEM Co-ordinator and head of Design and Technology.
