Beverley Town Cricket Club got their Newland League campaign off to bad start as they were beaten by Fenners at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
Batting first Fenners set Beverley a target of 107 but managed just 83 runs in reply.
On a positive not the match saw the return of Matthew Mudd, who has missed the start of the season through injury; his return will give the first-team boost squad ahead of Saturdays fixture against Studley Royal.
