Rarely, if ever, in its 130 year history has Beverley Rugby Union Club enjoyed such a successful season as that just ended.
After being unluckily relegated the previous year from National League Three the club has this year regained its status with a resounding championship win in League North One East, ending the season twenty two points clear of its nearest rivals.
Along the way they amassed over 1200 points at an average of 47 points per game. This was a remarkable achievement. To commemorate the success their first team match reporter, John Nursey, has produced a souvenir booklet entitled ‘A Triumphant Return’ which contains a match by match record of the season with numerous photographs enhancing the text as well as providing a highly readable overall review of the campaign.
Copies of the booklet were presented to all the first team squad members at the club’s Presentation of Awards evening on Saturday 11th May and the booklet is now on general sale at £4.95.
Copies in Beverley are available from Kavanagh’s Tea Rooms, Coffee House and Restaurant in Toll Gavel, or by post from John Nursey, Forge Cottage, Flaxton, York, YO60 7RW (£4.95 plus £1.50 postage).
