Disappointing End To Season For Blue & Golds

Beverley-ARLC-007

The blue and golds season ended in disappointment last Saturday. During the week before the Ray Speckman Cup Final, it emerged that they had fielded an unregistered player in the semi-final clash with Bilton Sully’s.

It was an administrative error as coaching staff thought the player concerned was eligible to play. The net result was that the game was awarded to Bilton Sully’s and the club was handed a £50 fine.

The events, however, do not detract from a much-improved season under new coach Guy Adams. The club won 7 out of 16 league matches with 2 league games not played due to the myriad of cup competitions held during the season. The task to strengthen for next season. However, starts straight away. The club is to stage an open trials match on Thursday June 6th kicking off at 6.45pm at the Leisure Centre.

The match will be against RAF Leeming Hawks, who will make the trip down the A1 from North Yorkshire that evening. The club will hold a training session on Tuesday 4th June at the Beverley Leisure Centre and quality players that are interested in playing in this match can contact Guy on 07585046099 or Lee on 07534986141.

Turning to matters away from the field the club has announced the details of this year’s charity sports dinner. Following the tremendous success of last year’s event at the Beverley Racecourse the club have decided to take it to a bigger venue. This year’s event will take place at Lazaats at Cottingham on Friday 11th October.

The guest speaker will be Barry McDermott of Sky Sports. A table of 10 is priced at £275. Inquiries can be directed to the
event organizer Ian Pollard on 07779357988.

Finally, the junior rugby league season is now in full swing with the ‘Braves’ entering sides at under 8s,10s,11s,12s,14s,15s in the Hull & District Youth League.

The club is very keen to develop the youth structure and new players are always welcomed. The contact for the junior section is Sarah on 01482 669265.
