An Evening With Barrie McDermott Will Be Night To Remember Says Ian Pollard

Beverley ARLC is promising rugby league fans a night to remember at their club’s annual dinner event ‘An Evening With Barrie McDermott’ in association with MS Sollar.

Building on the success of last years Sportsman’s dinner organiser Ian Pollard has had little choice but to switch locations to a bigger venue to cope with the demand for tickets.

Ian said;

“We had no choice but to relocate to Lazaat as we want this to be bigger and better than ever before.”

“Anyone who likes rugby league will know who Barrie McDermott is, and spending an evening with someone who is as high profile Barrie is going to be a must for any rugby league fan.”

McDermott who is known as ‘Baz’ has played for a string of clubs, these include the Super League giant’s Wigan Warriors and the Leeds Rhinos. McDermott has also pulled on the national shirt for Great Britain winning 17 caps for his country.

Ian added

“The man is a legend in the game. He is a beast of a player, I guess our equivalent at Beverley ARLC would be Lee Stevens.”

Alongside raising money for the club, Bevelrey ARLC will also be raising funds for MacMillan Nurses, a charity close to player’s hearts.

Ian said;

“As a team we like to put something back. The whole squad were asked to select a charity to support and the one the lads picked MacMillan Nurses.”

Beverley ARLC is now setting out on putting bums on seats and sourcing prices that can be raffled off. The event has again partnered up with MS Solar as the main sponsors and will raise further funds through ticket’s sales and also an auction.

Mickey Braddy Bradshaw will again lead the evening and with the comedy being provided by scouser Jamie Sutherland.

Local transport company Acklams Coaches will have also pledged their support by providing a free shuttle bus between Lazaat and Beverley at the end of the night, Ian said;

“Given the location of the hotel it was a very kind gesture for Acklams coaches. Guests will be able to get back to Beverley without cost at the end of the night.”

“However, anyone wishing to stay overnight at the hotel will be able to do so at a discounted rate which the club has negotiated with the hotel.”

Tickets for An Evening With Barrie McDermott on 11th October are just £275 for a table of ten. They can be purchased from the Durham Ox in Beverley or by calling 01482 679444.
