Saturday Market Maintenance Scheme: Progress Being Made

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Galliford Try Ltd are pleased to be able to inform residents of the progress being made to the important maintenance scheme in Beverley’s Saturday Market.

The works to phase 12, in the Sow Hill area, will be completed by Friday, 31 May, with phase 11 starting straight after which incorporates the area outside the Prezzo restaurant.

The traffic management closure on Sow Hill will be removed, from Sunday through to Friday, but will be reinstated on Saturdays for the market whilst phase 11 is complete.

Phase six, including works to the York stone pavements near Yorkshire Building Society, Fawcett Abraham and adjacent businesses will run concurrently to phase 11. This work is anticipated to be complete within three weeks.

Yorkshire Water has now completed repairs to the collapsed sewer in Saturday Market and have one week of pipe lining work remaining.

The council and Galliford Try will continue to keep any disruption to a minimum to both businesses and customers alike.

Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council and its contractor, Galliford Try, are endeavouring to keep any disruption to a minimum for both businesses and customers alike.

“Throughout all phases of this important maintenance scheme, work to business thresholds will be carried out outside of normal working hours to reduce potential adverse impacts.

“We very much appreciate and value the continued support and cooperation of residents and the local business community whilst the repairs are being carried out.”

The council will continue to keep residents updated on the works as they progress and Galliford Try’s site office can also respond to enquiries.
