North Ferriby United To Be Given Civic Reception At Treasure House

Councillor Claude Mole, chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will host a civic reception on Tuesday, 11 June, from 7-8.30pm, at the Beverley Treasure House, in Beverley, to honour the achievements of local football team North Ferriby United.

The club has had, arguably, the most successful season in its history, having secured promotion to the Blue Square Conference North, just two divisions off the Football League, as champions of the Evostik Northern Premier League as well as lifting the Evostik Northern Premier League Cup and the East Riding Senior Cup.

The reception will be attended by the team’s players, management and sponsors as well as local dignitaries, including Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Councillor Mole said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone involved with North Ferriby United for a truly outstanding season and I wish them all the best for the future as they take on the new challenges of the Conference North.

“The football club is an integral part of the North Ferriby community and their popularity is unquestionable given the turnout by supporters and the messages of congratulations received over the past few weeks.

“North Ferriby’s success adds to a memorable year for football in East Yorkshire and is hopefully a positive sign of further things to come.”

Les Hare, chairman of North Ferriby United, was delighted to accept the invitation of a civic reception on behalf of the club, saying: “We were absolutely thrilled when we received the invitation and felt honoured that our success was to be acknowledged in this way. Everyone at the club is justifiably proud of our achievement, so it feels extra special to receive such recognition from the council.”
