Beverley-based Wild Cherry Training & Education recently returned from another international youth project largely funded through the European Commission’s Youth in Action Programme.
A group of 5 young people represented the UK in a multilateral youth exchange taking place in Lerum, Sweden where they spent a week looking at the topic of the environment and sustainable development. They took part in workshops and activities, working on their 8 key competences to be reflected in their Youth Passes and awarded in recognition of their efforts. Participation, Inclusion, Cultural Diversity and European Citizenship are central to the non-formal educational methods which are used in the programme.
Sue Dudill, Director of Training for Wild Cherry said, ‘THINK globally, ACT locally’ is an excellent example of the truly worthwhile projects available in the Youth in Action Programme.
The UK participants were superb ambassadors for the UK and I am immensely proud of every one of them. Danny Lane, participant, added,’ we had a brilliant week and although it was hard work we really achieved so much and look forward to cooperating with our international group in the future in order to develop more projects and make a difference wherever we are.
