Wizards Magic Up Second Tournament Win In Three Weeks

Mill Lane United Wizards went to the south bank to Bottesford Town and won the Premier Trophy for their second tournament win in 3 weeks.

Throughout a long day the Wizards never conceded a single goal as they played 6 games in the league format and won all 6, playing some great attractive football. From the outset Mill Lane had the lion’s share of possession and despite the short duration, managed to score some great goals

Lloyd Bean, Jamie Pettigrew and Matty Blake all got on the score sheet during the early stages as the Wizards took advantage of some great team play. At the back Patrick Roscoe, Danny Wilson and George Addison kept the Wizards goal in tact as they stormed through their league with a total of 18 points.

In the quarter finals the Wizards played Park Tigers and despite dominating for the whole match their touch in front of goal eluded them as chance after chance came and went. With only 4 minutes extra time it was soon penalties! At 3 apiece the Wizards missed but Jack Thurston in goal pulled off a great save to bring the scores back level. At 7 penalties apiece Matty Blake blasted the ball into the top corner and Thurston with another great save put Mill Lane deservedly into the semi finals

In the semi-final Nettleham provided some stern opposition but with Harry Sadler and Zac Wise dominating the midfield with some scintillating play, they created numerous openings before Blake finally put one away with a great finish to put Mill Lane into the final.

The final was against local favourites Brigg United but the Wizards denied them possession with some great flowing football and only some fantastic saves from the United keeper kept the scores level. As extra time loomed a quick throw and cross cannoned off the united keeper to give the Wizards a deserved lead.

A minute later the full time whistle blew and the Wizards had won the Premier Trophy.
