Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart is encouraging people to come to Beverley and visit the town’s new Georgian Quarter for the grand opening this weekend.
Officially opening on Saturday 15th June, the Beverley Georgian Quarter is a newly branded shopping and leisure complex with over with over 50 businesses, including shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and beauty outlets such as The Stationery Box, The Royal Standard, The Beaver and The Beverley Dresser.
A select number of retailers who were unsuccessful in a bid to win £100,000 from a government scheme did with the help of MP Graham Stuart secure a grant of £10,000.
“Residents and visitors can expect a real treat when they visit the Beverley Georgian Quarter that is so much more than just a new brand, it is a complete shopping experience.” said Graham
“The development of the Georgian Quarter will raise Beverley’s profile as a shopping destination and encourage more visitors to the town.
“It is good to see a group of businesses working together to re invigorate Beverley’s high street. The project was given a real boost when it was selected to receive funding from the ‘Our Town First’ initiative, inspired by Mary Portas.
David Bird from the North Bar Traders Association said,
“It has been a great example of Central Government, Local Government and traders working together with a common goal – to rejuvenate the high street – a good news Portas story.”
Graham added,
“The North Bar Traders Association should be highly commended for the work they have done to bring this together, and I was delighted to have been able to support their ‘Our Town First’ application and do my bit to bring additional funding to the town.”
Beverley is currently going through a retail boom with the new Flemingate and Grove Hill Road developments which are sure to draw more people into the town from further afield.
